September was a good month. I spent the whole time in San Diego and was able to see family. There is also a lot going on in the Jr High Ministry at Horizon Christian Fellowship. And also, down in Mexico, a new lil one was born. Lots going on and so much to be thankful for.

My brother and his family came into town. It's always a blessing to see family and I love getting to spend time with my nephews & niece! The kids went in the pool and later we took my nephew Ryder to the Padres game. He is a huge sports fan, and for some reason he likes the Giants (I don't know what happened there). The Giants were in town so my parents got him his own jersey to wear to the game. We had a great time teasing each other about whose team is better.

The Jr High Ministry is going very well. We wrapped up our series on "Creation vs Evolution." One of the topics was dinosaurs and how they fit into the Bible. I presented information to show that they were part of the creation, just like everything else. I also brought my dog, Canela, in for the day and dressed her up in a dragon/dinosaur costume.

We celebrated Jordan's (one of the Jr Highers) birthday but he didn't show up that day haha. His birthday is on September 30 and mine is October 1st so we just switched the celebration over to me. I told the kids I spelled my name wrong on the cake. Oops! But we were still able to call Jordan and sing him happy birthday. We all got to eat cake so everybody was happy.

And we started a new series and will be going through the gospel of Mark. I started off the sermon with a picture of Ned Flanders and told the kids that Jesus is nothing like the Simpsons character. Sometimes the world wants to portray Jesus & Christians in negative way, but when we actually read the gospels we can see that Jesus was nothing like that. He was an amazing person and His words have revolutionized the world. It's very important that we get to know Him straight from the source of who He really is - The Bible.

We had our Jr High outing. The kids wanted to go roller skating and we had a pretty good turnout. It's great to see them having fun and building relationships. We hope to plan many more activities for them outside of church.

And down in Mexico, Elvira is continuing to do well in school. She is in her 2nd year of med school and pretty stressed out haha. She had many exams and "practicas" (hands on lessons) this month. Although it's a lot of work, she is enjoying learning about the body and looking forward to becoming a doctor. Please keep her in your prayers...that God will help her get through her tough schedule and give her peace in the middle of the storms that med school can bring.

And finally, a huge congratulations to my good friends Kyleigh & Luis (Junior)! Their second child, Selena, was born on September 13th. I'm excited to meet her when I go down in October! I'm so happy for them and I am praying for their family. Kyleigh & Junior have been a huge blessing in my life for many years. They helped out a lot when I was working at the orphanage. And they continue to help me out in the ministry by handling the finances when I am in the United States. They keep things running smoothly down here. May God abundantly bless you guys!
