What's going on at Dulce Refugio

I know that many people have passed through this orphanage and left their mark at Dulce Refugio. I want to keep all of you informed about what is going on with the kids and the construction process. Please remember to keep us in your thoughts and prayers; I hope you continue to help us out here at Casa Hogar Dulce Refugio. Gracias amigos!

July was a great month! I got to spend the first half at home in San Diego, with my family. Then I flew back to Aguas and started setting up our new transition home. The place looks great AND we have a new member staying with us. I'm excited for what God is going to do through this ministry!

I spent the 4th of July with my family in San Diego. My sister and her family came in from AZ. We just hung out by the pool and BBQ'd hamburgers. It was great to relax and be with family on such a special day. GOD BLESS AMERICA!!

I got to see my brother and his family in their new home. They bought a house in Rancho Palos Verdes so we went up for the day to hang out. My 2 nephews are so cute and we had fun playing together. God has truly blessed our family and I am so thankful for these times together.

I got back to Aguascalientes on July 13th. It was good to be home for a bit but I'm excited to get back to the ministry that God has for me here.

When I got back to the orphanage, I met our newest boy Alan. He is a very sweet and playful kid. We get along well and I look forward to getting to know him.

Our oldest boy John wasn't there when I got back. He escaped and decided to go somewhere else. I don't really know any details but I wish him the best. He's a good kid. His sister is still in the orphanage and we will continue to take care of her.

Tanya & Diego left the orphanage. They are brother and sister and came to us about 2 years ago. I had no idea the government agency was coming to relocate them with their family so I didn't get to say goodbye. I grew to love those kids and I wish them the best wherever they go.

Elvira turned 18! Elvira is the oldest girl in the orphanage and she is now an adult. The director threw her a birthday party and also a goodbye party at the same time. Now that Elvira can legally make her own decisions she has chosen to leave the orphanage and live in the transition home with Mary and Ariana, one of her best friends. We all love Elvira very much and I am so thankful to Dulce Refugio for taking such good care of her! Elvira has always been a great girl and I look forward to seeing her grow into a beautiful, strong woman of God.

I've been busy fixing up the new home for the girls. I installed the kitchen counter and some extra shelves for more storage space. I put closets in each of the 3 bedrooms and we got all of the appliances that they will need.

Thank you to everybody who supports these ministries and makes all of this possible. I am really excited to be able to provide a good home for these young women. Please pray that they will stay on the right path and lead successful lives. And please pray that Mary and I will have the wisdom to guide them as they grow.

And to end this month's blog update, I want to congratulate the Casa Hogar Dulce Refugio for completing 18 years! So many children have passed through this orphanage and so many lives have been cared for. I pray for God's continual blessing on Dulce Refugio for many more years to come and may He bless the director Marce with His vision for the future. Thank you Dulce Refugio for so many wonderful memories. I wish I could have been there to celebrate the 18th anniversary with everybody but I was with my family in the USA. I'm glad they all had a good time and I look forward to seeing this ministry continue to grow in the years to come.
