What's going on at Dulce Refugio
I know that many people have passed through this orphanage and left their mark at Dulce Refugio. I want to keep all of you informed about what is going on with the kids and the construction process. Please remember to keep us in your thoughts and prayers; I hope you continue to help us out here at Casa Hogar Dulce Refugio. Gracias amigos!
June has been a nice change of pace. Now that the inauguration has passed, my schedule has gone back to normal and I'm working regular hours again. I was able to relax a little, while still getting a lot done.
We had the 1st children's feeding program in our new building. On June 3, 2021 about 40 kids showed up to play games, eat food, and most importantly, to hear the Word of God. They used to have the feeding program in the old church and there was hardly enough space to hold everybody. Now, the kids can run around and move freely. It was a blessing to see the new building being used for God's glory.
Although we already had the inauguration, there are still details/jobs that need to be done in the new building. I wanted to add a nice design on the door, so I cut the church logo out of steel and welded it to the door. My friend José painted everything and it looks very nice. Now anybody looking for the church will be able to easily find it with the logo in big 3D letters.
Ariana won her soccer championship! Ariana is one of the girls in our transition home and she is a very talented soccer player. Her team made it to the championship and got to play the final game in the professional soccer stadium in Aguascalientes. They won and it was a great way to finish the season. I'm so proud of her!
At the orphanage we received 5 new kids:
María, Armando, Ian & José (from left to right) are brothers and sister. They actually came to the orphanage in May but because I was so busy in the construction, I didn't get to really meet them. María is a sweetheart and her brothers are cute lil bundles of energy. They are very friendly and love to play and don't always want to do their chores/schoolwork.
Yatziri is one of our older girls and she is a very sweet young lady. She is a little quiet and shy but starting to fit in with everybody. They put her in my English class and she learns things very quickly.
I did some work at my dentist's house. He has been doing a lot of dental work and not charging me anything. We made a deal that I would install some doors & windows at his new house. He wanted a couple of different styles of windows, that I've never done before, where the glass connects in the corner and he also wanted a really big sliding glass door. I always enjoy learning new things and it all turned out great. And as a missionary, it's nice to get a good deal on my dental needs.
And Praise the Lord for some time off to rest! I came to San Diego to spend time with family and relax. It's always a blessing to be home and it feels good to not have a big project hanging over my head. I'll be here till mid July.
