What's going on at Dulce Refugio
I know that many people have passed through this orphanage and left their mark at Dulce Refugio. I want to keep all of you informed about what is going on with the kids and the construction process. Please remember to keep us in your thoughts and prayers; I hope you continue to help us out here at Casa Hogar Dulce Refugio. Gracias amigos!
February was a great month. A lot was accomplished and I was able to take a quick trip home. I love to see all of the ministry taking place and progress being made in people's lives.
The kids' feeding program at the new church building resumed again and had it's first event of 2022. Since things get so crazy over the holidays, the "Gotas de amor" (Drops of Love) children's ministry takes the month of January off to rest. Now they are back to doing their outreach programs and it's awesome to see them using the new church building to share the gospel with the kids of Cañada Honda, Aguascalientes.
We finally celebrated Ariana's birthday. Ariana is one of the women in our girls' home and she turned 19 on December 26th. But because I was in the US for Christmas and got covid when I came back to Mexico, we haven't been able to celebrate. Better late than never! She decided she wanted to play paintball, so we went with some friends from church and had a great time. Afterwards, we went out for a nice dinner at Buffalo Wild Wings. I've known Ariana ever since she was a little girl in the orphanage and have always been drawn to her awesome personality. She is a really cool girl and I'm glad that I get to be part of her life and provide her with the opportunities she needs to have a bright future. Happy late birthday Ariana!
I have been doing some work at my dentist's house. Over the years I have developed a friendship with my dentist and we are able to help each other out. He has done a lot of free dental work for me and now he is taking care of the girls who are in the women's home. I built several aluminum doors for him and soon we will order the glass; then I will install everything. It's nice to be able to exchange blessings with people.
I got to take a trip home to San Diego on February 17th. One of my best friends got married and I had the honor of being one of her "bridesmen." My good friend Kerri and I have been close friends since middle school. She is older than I am so I would call her my "little" big sis and she would call me her "big" lil bro. It was such a blessing to see her so happy and to be a part of her special day. I wish her and Bill the best! May God bless your marriage and may you guys live happily ever after!
While I was home I got to meet my niece. Kennedy Jean Seski was born last month on January 18th and I was so excited that I had this trip planned. She is adorable and I got to spend a whole day with my brother and his family. I got to hold Kennedy for a couple hours and it was such a blessing!
After a week at home in San Diego, I flew back to Aguascalientes, Mexico on February 23rd.
Upon my arrival, I was happy to hear that Chevon is doing much better healthwise. I set her up with my friend, Karina, who is a physical therapist, and she is making major improvements with Chevon. Chevon's left arm was very swollen and she couldn't open her hand. Basically she had no use of the arm. When I got back to Mexico, the swelling was almost gone and she is now grabbing things with her left hand. Praise God for the improvement! Please keep Chevon in your prayers as we transition her into a new home and get her back out into the world.
