What's going on in Aguascalientes
There is a lot going on down here in Aguascalientes, Mexico. I want to keep you all informed with the highlights each month. Thank you to all who pray for and support these ministries. We are able to bless so many people and we couldn't do it without you. To God be all the glory. Gracias amigos!
December was a great month and a wonderful way to close out the year. I hope everybody had a great Christmas and a Happy New Year!
Getting into the Christmas mood - We decorated the Girl's home and also went downtown to see the lights. The government always does a good job with decorating "el centro," here in Aguascalientes. I love this time of year and hope that everybody else had a great Christmas with family & loved ones!
Pastor Phillip Macintosh, from my home church, Horizon Christian Fellowship, came down for a visit. He wanted to minister to fellow missionary, Chevon Clarke, and encourage her during her difficult time. Chevon is still struggling with her recovery and continues to have a bumpy road ahead. She was back in the hospital shortly after Pastor Phillip's visit and stayed for over two weeks. She was in isolation for a couple of days because she had pneumonia. They cured her for that and then put her in a regular hospital room. Shortly after, they operated on Chevon to insert a feeding tube directly into her stomach. Chevon has not been able to open her throat to pass food or water and was severely dehydrated and malnourished. The operation was a success and the day they were going to release her from the hospital, her bed sores got so severe that they had to keep her for another couple of days and perform special treatments in order to prevent them from worsening. Finally Chevon was released from the hospital on December 20th and is currently at home and being treated for her bed sores. Please keep her in your prayers.
Every year the Casa Hogar Dulce Refugio (Sweet Refuge orphanage) gets invited to the Donaldson Christmas party. Donaldson is a large corporation and has been a big help to the orphanage for many years. They always have a HUGE Christmas party and the kids (and staff) love to go. They have good food, tons of snacks, and lots of activities for kids. Each volunteer got a group of four kids to watch and we got to roam around and have fun.
I finished the security doors at the church, that we constructed last year. I put on the final details, the church's logo, and my friend Jose painted everything. It came out really nice!
I did a small project for my friend/dentist, Miguel. He has been a huge blessing to me and the women in our girls home, by helping us out with a lot of dental work. He wanted a nice box around his garden so I welded one and he later had it painted.
I flew home on December 19th to spend Christmas with the family. It was a great Christmas this year with both my brother & sister in town with their families. I got to see all my nephews and my 11 month old niece. We took them to see Christmas lights, baked cookies, went to the park and a whole lot more. Thank you Lord for this time together with family!
I flew back to Aguascalientes on December 31st, just in time to spend the new year down here. It was a fun night and we had a great time celebrating another year. I started off the night having dinner at my girlfriend's house with her family. Afterwards we went to a friend's house for a bonfire where we hung out and set off fireworks till around 6am. No noise complaints from the neighbors! Viva Mexico!
I hope everybody had a great 2022 and is ready for what 2023 brings. May we seek the Lord and His will in our lives this coming year. And may we strive to fulfill the two greatest commandments: 1)Love the Lord your God with all your heart and 2)love your neighbor as yourself. Thank you so much to everybody that has taken the time to read these blogs and take an interest in what God is doing down in Aguascalientes, Mexico. Your prayers & support are very appreciated! I wish you all the best and may God bless you all abundantly this new year!
