What's going on in Aguascalientes
There is a lot going on down here in Aguascalientes, Mexico. I want to keep you all informed with the highlights each month. Thank you to all who pray for and support these ministries. We are able to bless so many people and we couldn't do it without you. To God be all the glory. Gracias amigos!
October 2023: Another year of life and a new decade to celebrate! It was a blessing to be back in Aguascalientes for a little bit and also to be able to start new things in San Diego.
I was so blessed to celebrate my 40th birthday (October 1st) with so many of my friends, down in Mexico. Since Aguascalientes had been my home for the past 7 1/2 years, I wanted to be there for this big event in my life. I rented a 5 bedroom house with a pool and invited friends over for a carne asada. It was a great time and the perfect fiesta for my 40 years. And of course, as Mexican tradition has it, my face was smashed into my birthday cake haha.
As I look back on my life, I am so grateful to God for the 40 years He has given me. He has allowed me to do so much and I pray that He allows me many more years to serve Him. My wish is that my life brings Him glory in all that I do.
I flew back to San Diego on Oct 5. It was good to see everybody again since I moved home but I was excited to get back and get started on the things that God has for me in San Diego.
I moved back into my condo. It was nice to stay with my parents for a little bit but the 30 day notice for my renters came up and it was time to be on my own again. I cleaned all my stuff out of storage, put it in a U-Haul and set it all up in my place.
I took over the job of setting up all of the signs on campus where we have church. Along with the Jr High ministry, it's one of the jobs that I have as part of the Horizon staff. It's fun getting to drive the cart around campus and organize things before service. And thank you to Marcel who has volunteered to help in this ministry.
I've been getting back to work. I've been helping Alec, a leader in the church, build a deck at his house. It was nice to get to work with my hands again and to learn new skills. Things are definitely done differently in the US than they are in Mexico! I have lots of construction skills but want to learn the proper way of doing things in the US and get experience with the different materials that are used here. When we finish at Alec's house I have some other jobs lined up. Praise God for the work!
And back down in Mexico my girls, Ariana & Elvira, are doing well and enjoying their studies. Ariana got her chef's uniform and is learning a lot in gastronomy. There is a lot of theory and different cultures that she has to learn about, but her favorite part of the class is Tuesdays, when they have their "practice" and get to prepare different food dishes from around the world. I'm excited to soon go down for another visit and have her prepare some food for me.
Elvira is staying very busy studying medicine. She wants to be a doctor and specialize in gynecology. She enjoys it very much and is doing well. There is a lot of homework and she gets stressed out at times, especially during exams. I have to remind her that it's worth it and that all of her hard work will pay off one day. She is a very smart woman and dedicated student, so I know she will do well. Please keep her and Ariana in your prayers as college can be a very difficult time, both mentally & spiritually. I really love them and want them to stay on the right path.
