January was a productive month and I am looking forward to all that God is going to do this year. I got to spend about half the month in Mexico and half the month in San Diego. 2024 is off to a great start!

Before

After

Down in Mexico, I was able to bless two of my good friends, Jose & Vivi, by making them a kitchen counter unit. They are both leaders in the church that I attend in Aguascalientes and they got married back in June 2023. They were living in the apartment on site at church and have now gotten their own home. The house had nothing in it, so I helped with the kitchen and also helped fix some windows that were broken/needed repair. May God bless you guys in your new home!

I got to spend time with my girls. We went out to eat a couple of times, saw the Christmas lights downtown and got them ready for their next college semester. Ariana already started her 2nd semester on January 15th. Elvira will begin next month.

I visited with fellow missionary, Chevon, a couple of times. Last time I saw her in November there were lots of issues with her health. This trip was a lot better. She's doing well and everything was mellow. She is up walking again and enjoying her daily routine. She asked for a TV in her room so I put one in and installed Roku on it. Now Chevon will have access to Netflix and YouTube on the big screen. She's excited to put on sermons at night after the nurses leave and she is alone.  Hopefully that will keep her entertained and happy.

After about 3 weeks in Aguascalientes, I flew back to San Diego on January 19th.

I had some jobs pending for me when I got home. I made a large shelving unit for a woman and also put some shelves in her closet. I was referred to this lady from a previous job that I did. She was very happy with everything. Praise God for the work and the referral.

And finally, it was good to be back at my home church, Horizon, and teach my Jr High class again. I missed three Sundays when I was in Mexico. Things are going well and I'm finding new ways to teach the kids in a fun/engaging way. We learned about the armor of God (Ephesians 6) and how "all things work together for good to those who love God" (Romans 8:28). I brought in all of the ingredients to make chocolate chip cookies and had the kids try each one individually. Some ingredients, like a spoonful of salt, were pretty nasty. And a spoonful of flour was incredibly dry. But after mixing everything together we get cookies which are delicious. It's kind of like life. Not everything that happens is pleasant but God can use those difficult times to prepare us for something good. Hence the verse: "all things work together for good." The kids enjoyed it and I'm excited to keep teaching them God's Word.
