I flew home on May 7. It was a great trip to Aguascalientes but I had things to do in San Diego. And I also had to get back to prepare for a special trip...

May was a great month. I started off the month in Aguascalientes and got to travel a bit in Mexico. I miss living down there and still have a heart for the people and the ministries that I am involved in.

We celebrated fellow Horizon missionary Chevon's birthday. Her pastor & his wife, Mario & Emma, joined us and also two of Chevon's nurses. We took her out to a nice restaurant and we had a great time. It was good to see her healthy and outside of her house. And it was an extra blessing to celebrate because 1 1/2 years ago a doctor told us that she had maybe 6 months left to live...God had other plans!

Since my girls, Ariana & Elvira, were on spring break, I decided to fly them up to Tijuana for a weekend vacation at the beach. They are nowhere near the ocean down in Aguascalientes so I thought this would be a good idea and a convenient way for us to spend time together. I drove across the border, picked them up at the Tijuana airport and then our adventure began. We ate lobster down in Puerto Nuevo. It was a great blessing that my pastor, Phillip Macintosh, and his wife, Bethany, could join us for lunch. Bethany and Ariana really clicked on a missions trip back in 2018 and have stayed in touch ever since. They hadn't seen each other in 6 years so it was a good reunion for them. After lunch, I took the girls to ride ATVs and got us a hotel in Rosarito. The next day we hung out at the beach. And our third day we drove to the Guadalupe valley and had lunch at one of the vineyards. It was a beautiful area. And before I dropped them off at the airport, we spent some more time at the beach setting off fireworks. It was a great trip!

The girls flew back to Aguascalientes on May 12th.

Elvira had to get back because she started classes on the 13th. She is almost done with her 1st year of med school. It has been tough, but she is enjoying learning so much and is very passionate about medicine.

Ariana informed me that she no longer wants to continue with her schooling. She has been studying gastronomy and didn't like the program. She said there was very little cooking and most days they were only learning about the history of the food that they would be preparing and the culture of the country where the food came from. She thought it would have been more hands on. We talked about her options and she now wants to enter a police training program. It is a 5-month program and afterward she would be hired by the police. I told her that seemed like a good idea as long as she is in a process towards a career and a future. She is currently working full time until the program starts. Please keep both of my girls in your prayers!

I got back from vacation early Sunday morning on Mother's Day. That night we took my mom and my aunt out for a nice steak dinner. I am so thankful for having my mom in my life and eternally grateful to her for teaching me the Word of God. She made the Lord a priority in her life and always taught her kids to do the same. I love her so much and pray that I get to spend many more Mother's Days with her.

And finally, we had our last Taft, after school Bible study for this school year. Pastor Phillip gave the message and we are praying that the kids will remember these teachings and apply them to their lives. We really want them to know the love of Jesus and we are excited to continue after a short summer break.
